Student Schedules for 2016-2017

The student schedules for 2016-2017 will be finalized over the summer and available on PowerSchool by August 30th. When you log on to PowerSchool (https://sisccrsb.ednet.ns.ca/public/), click on Attendance History (in the menu on the left) to see your list of classes. The Entry Date (Sept or Feb) will indicate if the course is 1st semester or 2nd semester. Please note that PowerSchool will not be available during the summer while the end of year process occurs to change from the 2015-2016 school year to the 2016-2017 school year.  PowerSchool will open again on August 30th.

Students in grade 9 all take the same courses (English, Math, French, Science, Social Studies, Healthy Living, Physical Education, and an elective).

For students in grades 10-12 every effort is made to ensure students are scheduled in the courses they requested, however sometimes scheduling conflicts prevent all requested courses from being scheduled. Course selections made in the spring for the next academic year are generally considered final.

Course changes will only be made in the following cases:

  • The scheduling process has resulted in an incomplete schedule.
  • A course and its pre-requisite are in reverse order on a student's schedule.
  • A course is scheduled for which a credit has already been granted.
  • Student request was not granted due to a conflict with other courses.
  • A potential graduate lacks a required course to complete graduation requirements.
  • A student is scheduled in a course without the recommended pre-requisite course.
  • A potential graduate is able to complete graduation requirements in a single semester.
  • Student's post-secondary plans have changed.

English and Mathematics Changes:
Students have been recommended for English and Mathematics courses for next year based on their progress in English and Mathematics courses this year.  Parents who are requesting an English or Mathematics course that is different from the recommended course must meet with the Department Head to discuss possible changes.

This will give students the opportunity to attend the courses and see what they are about before requesting any changes. On the third day of classes, a sign-up sheet will be in the main office for students requesting course changes.
